From South Wales
I grew up in a small coal mining town in South Wales, where community mattered, people looked out for each other, and there was pride in doing things well. Creativity was part of everyday life.
That upbringing shaped how I work today: with a practical mindset, quiet determination, and a genuine care for the little things that make a big difference. I’ve always found satisfaction in bringing structure to the messy bits and finding calm in the details.
The name Calon comes from the Welsh hymn Calon Lân, meaning “a pure heart.” It’s a nod to my roots and a reminder to work with honesty, care, and intention in everything I do.
To London
Moving to London was a big leap, and one of the best decisions I ever made. For thirteen years, I supported a not-for-profit trade association for the UK’s health food industry, helping to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. I also had the chance to organize events in some of the city’s most iconic venues, including the Houses of Parliament, the Painted Hall in Greenwich, and the Magic Circle headquarters.
London was also where I discovered silversmithing—a creative outlet that gave me space to work with my hands and explore detail in a different way. It quickly became more than just a hobby. Even now, I still pick up my tools when I can. It’s a craft that requires patience, precision, and focus—and it's helped me develop a sharp eye for detail that carries through into everything I do.
And North Carolina (via NYC)
After a few years living in New York, my husband and I made the move to North Carolina. The slower pace of life here suits me beautifully. We rescued our German Shepherd and found ourselves settling into a rhythm that felt just right. It was also here that I discovered a new creative outlet: working with leather. Like silversmithing, it’s a hands-on craft that demands both patience and focus, something I’ve always found grounding and fulfilling.
Starting Team Calon felt like a natural next step. Over the years, I’ve learned that what I love most is supporting others, quietly, efficiently, and with care. Team Calon brings together all those threads: creativity, structure, and a genuine desire to make life easier for the people I work with.
